International Programmes and Networks

The International Programmes and Networks (IPN) unit works to consolidate and extend strong and coherent national, regional and international networks of civil society organisations and activists who share our values.

Most of IPN’s activity is concentrated on our role as co-chair of the MenEngage networks – MenEngage Africa and MenEngage Global – and with our UN partners.

MenEngage is a global alliance of NGOs and UN agencies that seeks to engage boys and men to achieve gender equality. A number of organisations and UN bodies sit on the international steering committee and, at the national level, members include more than 400 NGOs from Sub-Saharan Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean, North America, Asia and Europe.

Sonke is co-chair of the global alliance, and is chair of the MenEngage Africa alliance.

Sonke's international work also includes engagement with UN agencies, representing both Sonke and the MenEngage alliance. We regularly make presentations at UN meetings and have co-convened others with UN agencies and organisations that share our core values. Sonke has also been invited to conduct training for staff from UN agencies.
