MenEngage Training Initiative
The MenEngage Africa Training Initiative is a training programme focusing on building the skills and capacity of individuals, organisations and government to undertake work engaging men and boys in prevention and response to GBV, HIV and AIDS and other social problems.
The programme's curriculum is divided into two parts: thematic modules covering key content, and skills development.
Content covered by the curriculum includes: gender-based violence, sexual exploitation, HIV, fatherhood, LGBTI issues, and more.
Skills taught include: research, policy development, advocacy, network and institutional management, community mobilization, and a variety of communication skills.
The course will take place over six days, and in the first few years, each country network will have at least one representative who will go through the training.
The initiative will strengthen the ties between MenEngage members, strengthen the organisational capacity of the MenEngage Africa members allowing these partners to do their work more effectively.
