Murals

Sonke makes extensive use of murals to promote men's positive engagement with issues of gender and HIV. The murals are usually painted on walls in the community which many people pass by on a regular basis and cover topics from xenophobia to medical male circumcision.

We usually workshop the messages and artwork for the wall with members of the community beforehand, and employ the services of a local artist to help sketch out the desired mural.

Read more about how Sonke has used murals to promote the rights of refugees and migrants in the case study One Man Can Challenge Xenophobia: Sonkes Use of Murals to Educate about Refugee Rights (1010.76 kB)icon
