Helen has a BA in English and an LLB, and is currently completely a Masters degree in Informatics, focussing on ICT for Development. Helen started her career as the advocacy co-ordinator for SWEAT (the Sex Worker Education and Advocacy Taskforce) where she promoted the decriminalisation of sex work. She then worked for the Provincial Government of the Western Cape on their Cape Gateway information portal, using technology to ensure that citizens could access government information on demand. From 2006 to 2009, Helen ran her own business providing communication and information services to various NPOs. |
Helen Alexander joined Sonke in August 2009 and she is the Communications and Strategic Information Manager. Her special interest is in using technology appropriately and meaningfully to assist NPOs to be more effective and efficient.
