Morapedi Moreotsene

Morapedi Moreotsene joined Sonke Gender Justice Network in September 2008 in the capacity of administrative assistant in the Johannesburg office. He studied Cost and Management Accounting at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology from 2003 to 2005. During this time he voluntarily joined the HIV&AIDS and Gender Based Violence Peer Educators and was voted chairperson for two years in a row. Morapedi worked closely with various student structures on campus and was influential in the development of activities like drama, poetry and dance for the peer educators. Morapedi has also been a volunteer with the Southern African Students Volunteers Organisation (SASVO).  The main vision of SASVO is to raise awareness, teach and do workshops around HIV&AIDS, teenage pregnancy, gender based violence and violence in schools. Morapedi is a leader of the dance/drama group in his township called HLF (Hot Like Fire). The group is dedicated to entertaining the youth through dance and drama and leaving them with a positive message.  Morapedi enjoys being around people and engaging with them on topical issues.
